A Short Bio

I have been into photography since my college days in Alamosa, CO; I needed an elective while friends and teammates on the football and track teams wanted pictures—been chasing the perfect click ever since.  My son got interested in lacrosse early in life and managed to be good enough to play at the collegiate level. I took a break from photography when “life” happened until I noticed that no one was getting any memories of their players. So, I decided to break out the cameras and started taking pictures of him and his teammates that morphed into athletes on other teams and, well, you know the rest…

I retired (completely) in 2015 after a 23 year U. S. Navy career and 17 year stint as an Operating Room (OR) and Wound Care Nurse. I started my Navy career as a Hospital Corpsman with the Marines, transitioned into the diving navy via the Naval  School of Diving and Salvage in Washington D. C. as a Medical Deep Sea Diving Technician and finished as a Mixed Gas (HeO2) Diving and Salvage Officer. I was lucky enough to survive 5 Diving and Salvage ships that took me from the Persian Gulf westward to Hawaii and finally to the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD as an instructor and the Officer Representative for the USNA Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field teams.  After my naval career I attended Nursing school at the University of Maryland where my OR days kept us (my wife, son and 3 dogs) in the Annapolis area for 20 years.  Looking for a different scene we “got underway” and anchored where we currently live in St. Augustine, FL . When I'm not behind a camera I like getting  my thrills riding a bicycle; I find both to be very therapeutic!!
